Novella Moetteli-Mantelli
Novella is a licensed Swiss attorney-at-law registered as a legal practitioner before the European Patent Office. She earned her Law degree from the University of Geneva and passed the Bar in Geneva. Prior to joining Da Vinci Partners LLC, she worked for the Swiss Federal Banking Commission (currently: FINMA) in Berne, in the department for the authorization of banks, securities dealers and investment funds.

Sandro Florin, LL.M.

With 15 years of experience in the business, the electrical engineer Sandro, had been in charge of preparing high innovative ideas for high-volume mass production which were subject to time, costs and various regulatory constraints. This process also pertains to intellectual property assets in which these required immediate and effective protection. Sandro has earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from the University of Liverpool and is currently training to become a Swiss and European Patent Attorney, through working with us at Da Vinci Partners LLC. Sandro speaks fluent German, English and French. |
Lorenzo berenguer
Lorenzo earned his executive juris doctorate from Concord University School of Law. Since joining Da Vinci Partners LLC in mid-2019, Lorenzo specialized in Swiss, US and international trademark law and business development initiatives.
A former commercial claims insurance executive, Lorenzo has very substantial experience in commercial mediation and dispute resolution, and is a past guest speaker at the DRI (Defense Research Institute).
Lorenzo earned separate Bachelor of Arts diplomas in Spanish Literature and Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington. A native of Mexico City, he speaks fluent Spanish, English and German.




David J. Koris, Esq.
David, of counsel, is a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel with over 34 years of experience including 11 years as executive Vice President, General Counsel for IP for Shell International B.V.’s global IP function, and several years in senior IP roles with General Electric and Tyco International Ltd. He has extensive experience in all phases of corporate IP practice including budget management, patent quality assurance, IP risk management, global patent litigation, licensing, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, IP valuation and brand development. Through extensive practice in the acquisitions of IP assets and the management of the IP function across a number of industries, David has developed broad experience in the assessment, design, development and management of corporate IP resources. As a senior leader in Global IP, David has created and led the change management processes in diverse corporate environments to ensure the right level of IP service delivery is created for an organization aligning business goals, the technology selection process and desired IP strategy.
As Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce’s IP Commission, David is recognized as a global thought leader on how IP Strategy development facilitates sustainable development efforts. He has lectured extensively both in academic settings such as St. Petersburg University, Saint Petersburg, Russia as well as Beijing University, Beijing China on significance of IP to the next generation of corporate founders, as well as government sponsored events in India, China, Brazil, Russia and across Europe.
Sharon Gobat, ESQ.
Sharon, off-counsel, earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence and M.A. and B.A. in Biology (University of California and Wellesley College), is registered to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar. She specializes in international trademark strategies, particularly in the fields of pharmaceuticals, healthcare and life sciences. She is also active in supporting our biomedical patent clients.
Previously, Sharon served as director of legal services for a global branding agency, assisting clients in the selection, clearance and exploitation of trademarks worldwide.
Sylvain Roy, attorney
Sylvain, of cousel, is a Canadian attorney (Quebec Bar) and strategy consultant that specializes in licensing, IP valuation, product valuation and business development. Through positions such as COO, CEO and legal counsel of technology companies, Sylvain has gained a diversified experience of licensing and of exploiting intellectual property (IP) in a transnational environment. An initiator and problem solver, Sylvain can leverage an holistic know-how of technology, IP law, marketing and finance to assess the economic value of products, technologies and patent rights.
He also focuses on designing and implementing workable business strategies to optimize the valuation & value realization of IP and other intangible assets, in harmony with financing and exit strategies. Sylvain’s experience of local markets covers Canada, China, France, Italy, Scandinavia, S-E Asia, Switzerland and USA.
hans von känel
Hans obtained his Ph.D. in natural sciences from the ETH in Zürich, Switzerland, in 1978. His major fields of study have been low-dimensional magnetism, liquid crystals, semiconductor photoelectro-chemistry, epitaxial interfaces and surfaces, scanning probe techniques, and epitaxial growth. He was a Post-doctoral Associate at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, from 1979 to 1981, and the leader of the semiconductor electrochemistry and Si heterostructures groups at the ETH in Zürich from 1981 to 2002, where he invented the technique of low-energy plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (LEPECVD).
From 2002 to 2007 he was ordinary professor of physics at the Politecnico di Milano. During this time he built up and directed the laboratory for semiconductor hetero- and nanostructures at L-NESS located in Como. L-NESS is a joint research center of the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Milano Bicocca founded in 2002. From 2003-2010 he was the CTO of the ETH spin-off company EpiSpeed. He has co-authored more than 350 scientific publications and 15 patent applications.

Bill Zhang
Mr. Zhang has been practising Chinese intellectual property laws including trademark, patent and copyright in two top tier Chinese IP law firms in their Beijing headquarter offices and Chinese commercial laws in three well-known international law firms – Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP and CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre, in their Shanghai representative offices, and as the General Legal Counsel of a famous multi-national company in its China head office for more than seven years after his graduations. Mr. Zhang’s practice exposure extends from negotiating, reviewing and drafting various agreements, to involvement in major merger and acquisition, foreign direct investment, joint venture transactions, initial public offering, dispute resolution, anti-trust filing in cross-border merger and acquisitions, and corporate governance/restructuring as well as employment matters. |
